Term Limits For House Members? I do not usually blog or talk politics with people too often. However, on occasions, politics will always pop up in conversation and I will partake in them. The one thing I have seen is just about everyone agrees there should be term limits on politicians. So, I have been giving this one political topic some very deep consideration. Mind You, what I am blogging about is only my view and has no agenda for either Republican or Democrat Party.
The Reality Is, There Are Term Limits For House Members
The term for how long a person holds a political office is always determined by the people. We the people are the ones who determine how long one is a senator or congressman. Yes, they are allowed to run for office as many times as they want without limit. However, that does not mean we have to elect them back into office. It is up to the people of this country to step up and start voting smarter rather than politically. Most people vote their Party Line no matter what as if they must vote that way. If you don’t know why or who you are voting for then why are you voting?
Political Parties
Sould we have two different political parties? Well, that is another debate within its’ self. However we do, The Republican Party and The Democratic Party. I think our biggest problem is we the people do not take enough time to research the politicians we are voting for. This does not mean listening to your favorite news channel. ALL of them have their own agenda, again I will say ALL OF THEM! It is a lot easier today to follow a politicians work ethics and how they are voting with the technology we have today.
Voting strictly to your party’s line is not a must-do. Now, I agree in most states you can only vote for your party in Primaries but that does not include general elections. I am registered as a Republican however I vote both Democrat and Republican depending on who I think will be the best person to do the job.
Political Corruption
I do believe there is a lot of political corruption within the house and senate. Votes are traded, bought, and bribed for all the time. Therefore I feel we the people should not allow a senator or congressman to stay in office for more than six years. More so, this would eliminate a lot of the big corporations from lobbying. The young senators and congressmen are told how to vote by the older ones, You know the ones that have been in office so long they don’t have to campaign to get re-elected. Play the game or you don’t get funding for your state or district. Also, they lose the opportunity to be on committees. I think we could get both parties working together if they knew they were being held accountable for their actions. However, it is up to “We The People”
More Political Education
I think that it would take a lot of educating the public about the truth of how Washington is actually run. The first thing we need for people to do is to turn off the news completely. All Of Them. Each and every news organization has its own agenda they are pushing. And most of it is propaganda on both sides. If they say it enough times people start to believe it. So, how do we get more political education for the majority of people to get it? More so, who will teach it or at least get people to start looking for the truth rather than being told a bunch of BS on TV? I don’t know the answer to these questions but I do pray America will Rise Up and get smarter about voting.
